Anastas (Nasko) is left to stay at his grandma Fany’s for the summer vacation, while his parents are away working in Spain. Nasko and the neighborhood kids, Petyo and Vesi, gang up against Dachko, their fearsome neighbor with a scar on his face. After a failed attempt at an ambush, they lose Grandpa Dimitar’s sling. Determined to get it back, little Anastas drags everyone into an awkward situation that unravels the mystery of odd-bod Dachko.

Anthoniy Hristov gained his BA in Film Production, specialising in Directing and Producing, at the Arts University Bournemouth, UK. He graduated in 2023 with a Master’s Degree in Screen Directing from the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, Bulgaria. While still studying, he won the Special Jury Prize of the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation for his short film, Flea. Cats Have No Roots is the director’s seventh short film.
