Sofia, a Bulgarian in Norway, divorces her husband, Rune Jensen. The Norwegian man contacts the child protection service and accuses his ex-wife of turning their children against him by being too emotional. The two are placed under supervision, and their children are taken and placed in different foster homes. The mother experiences the separation dramatically, but suppresses her despair. She must maintain her composure to demonstrate that she can adapt to a society different from her mentality, even if only to win her children back.
