On a rainy morning, a criminal police inspector and the forensic pathologist investigate a murder. Manov, a man with a shady past and questionable morals, is found dead. Who killed him? Baev, whom the neighbours saw leaving Manov’s flat? Dimov, who is implicated by certain documents? Or Zhanna, the victim’s mistress?
The inspector in charge of the case has deliberately chosen a career that, after a series of romantic disappointments, has turned him into a loner. Yet his solitude does not prevent him from interacting with others, and he reveals himself to be a pleasant and considerate man. His attitude towards Zhanna, however, is a mixture of professional duty and personal sympathy.
